Intro to Mindfulness 4 Week Course

Intro to Mindfulness: The Essence of a Grounded heart, is a 4-week journey into the experience and wisdom of mindfulness meditation for those who are beginning their journey with mindfulness and experienced meditators, alike. 

This four-week course is ideal for those just starting their mindfulness journey and for experienced mindfulness practitioner's looking to deepen their practice in community. Together, we will explore the qualities of the heart through the lens of the mindfulness teachings of self-compassion, forgiveness, Metta (loving-kindness), and generosity. 

In this container, we will practice tuning into the spaciousness of the Heart and renewing our relationship to our own unique inner voice and essence. Our hearts play a vital role in circulating life within our bodies day in and day out and creating connections with the vast world in which we live. Grounding the heart allows us to connect more deeply with ourselves, allowing more space for calm, peace and resilience. 

Each week, we will explore mindfulness through silence, guided meditation, reflections, and accessible forms of mindful movement. We will practice grounding into the present moment and opening our hearts to access vitality, possibility, playfulness, wonder and liberation.

We believe in making this course accessible to any person who would like to attend regardless of financial constraints. Therefore, we offer this course on a donation basis. While the suggested investment is $15-35 per class, we welcome Dana contributions of any amount. Those who can contribute more, help ensure that the community of meditators continues to flourish. 

Dana refers to the act of giving or donation, emphasizing the virtue of selflessness and generosity.

ABOUT THE TEACHER:

Shanique, is a well-being proponent, Earth steward, and mindfulness practitioner based in Providence, RI. Through her work, Shanique collaborates with the subtle energies of the Earth with mindful awareness, illuminating the interconnectedness of healing minds and bodies as directly correlated to the healing of planet Earth and greater humanity. Shanique was introduced to mindfulness practice in 2014. 

She is currently a student of Jack Kornfield, Ph.D and Tara Brach, Ph.D, and is offering this course as part of the practicum component of the Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program.

In addition to Reiki, participants will be treated to a variety of sound therapy techniques, including drumming, sound bowls, element chimes, water stick, and rattles. These soothing sounds further enhance the healing process, creating a multi-sensory journey towards inner peace and well-being.

Embark on a profound exploration of your emotions with our immersive workshop, "Climate Feelings," guided by Kate Schapira and Ana Duque. Kate Schapira brings her expertise in nonfiction writing, narrative storytelling, and environmental advocacy, while Ana Duque, owner of The Heal Room and a passionate advocate for social and climate justice, shares her insights as a yoga instructor and community organizer.

In this interactive session, expect a series of engaging exercises designed to guide you through the spectrum of emotions evoked by the climate crisis. From guilt and anger to hope and empowerment, we'll provide a safe space for you to express and navigate your feelings.

Through dynamic activities and thoughtful discussions, you'll have the opportunity to:

  • Confront the weight of guilt and explore pathways for a different approach.

  • Harness the power of anger as a catalyst for positive change.

  • Assess your capacity to contribute meaningfully to environmental well-being.

About: 

Kate Schapira teaches nonfiction writing, with a focus on narrative, diverse formal strategies, and environmental and ecological storytelling. Recurring courses include Medical Narrative, Writing for Activists, and True Stories. She's the author of Time to Be Something Other Than Human (Essay Press, 2018) and six collections of poetry. Lessons From the Climate Anxiety Counseling Booth, a book about living in climate change with purpose and care, will be out with Hachette Go in 2024. She ran the Publicly Complex Reading Series 2007-2017, and engages with the public about climate change and mental health through the Climate Anxiety Counseling project.

Exhale Limited Beliefs: Breathwork Detox

Breathwork Detox is like 20 years of therapy in 1 session without saying a word." Breathwork is a highly effective and powerful tool for directly accessing the subconscious mind and releasing any stored negative memories, emotions, stagnant energy, and trauma that might be trapped in the body.

These energetic blockages hinder our spiritual growth, drain our energy, give us brain fog, and affect our physical, and mental well-being, which can eventually evolve from fatigue into dis-ease or illness. By oxygenating the entire body using a very specific breathwork technique, we are able to tap into the unconscious parts of the body where these blockages reside in the form of stagnant energy. Breathwork is done lying down on your back on a yoga mat in a comfortable position. Music is played for motivation and relaxation purposes in order to help release stuck emotions by tapping into the energy and emotion of those particular songs.

Meghan is going to guide you through this entire process using powerful motivational messages and NLP techniques to help break up old neuropathways of the brain that are responsible for the unhealthy / unconscious habits that are no longer serving you.

In this two-hour ritual, we gather in sacred circle to honor and release the full spectrum of our emotions that are often suppressed – anger, sadness, fear, and everything in between. Together, we create a safe and supportive space to express, witness, and heal.

Through a series of emotional release practices, including gentle/somatic yoga, pillow exercises (yes we are goig to scream, punch and cuddle our pillows), journaling, EFT Tapping, and the power of witnessing each other's stories, we embark on a journey of transformation, where the alchemy of dance and expression transmutes darkness into light, pain into passion, and grief into joy.

There will be many moments of dancing where we surrender to the rhythm of the music and let our bodies move freely in ecstatic dance, joy, grief, pain & liberation.

Join us as we honor our journey, release what no longer serves us, and dance our way into healing and wholeness. All are welcome, no matter where you are on your path. Together, let's create magic, let's find healing, and let's dance our way back to ourselves.
